Two years ago he was a completely mysterious hermit who hadn't played one concert in his 26-year career. Now he's playing Toronto.

When I read about this, I just didn't know what to think.

I'm at least intrigued. I can't honestly say that I really like his recordings, but it could be circumstantial. Listened to in the right setting, like live in circus room, might be very engaging.

Toronto's got a lot of jams coming up: OM and Tony Conrad at some X-Avant festival? Damn.

Yeah, I downloaded his first album but didn't particularly like it. I'll try another one and see. Unless people have song recommendations.

I don't know, man. He's got piles of records to his credits, and I wonder if any bit of them count as a song. I'm downloading "When We Took That Train" and "Your Turn to Fall" at the moment, and can share.

This could make up for missing Growing at The Pines this weekend here.

IMO: the mystery and legend that is Jandek is far superior to the music. I do own the Jandek on Corwood DVD though. that kinda rules!

Do you suppose the real Jandek hired someone to play Jandek and this guy isn't the real Jandek?

Yeah I went by Soundscapes the other day and the amount of good tickets they have on sale right now is totally INSANE.

Juana Molina
Yo La Tengo
Gang Gang Dance
Steve Reich
X-Avant Fest...
Califone
English Beat
Detroit Cobras
Mojave 3
Jolie Holland

I could drop a whole paycheque on that shit. It's out of control!

My friend is a fan, same friend who got me into Moondog (he & I have very similar taste). I've never heard him before but I'm curious.

I'm coming in today for my grandfather's 90th fete on Sunday afternoon. I'm very tempted to go to this. Haven't got any company yet, so am resistent to buying a ticket, but I'd like to do so online very shortly. Let me know.
