I was going to make a best of YLT for Rod's mix project and totally forgot about it. I offer you this for now. It's only three songs and they're not necessarily the best representation of the band, but try it, you might like it.

YLT best of has just been added to my weekend list.

Painful is more limited in its scope, though. It's a very consistent record, but it's also pretty different from I Can Hear the Heart and And Then Nothing. The new one pulls in nearly all of those elements and as such makes for a more complete sampling of their sound. I Can Hear the Heart is pretty diverse as well, though, so it might work better for this.

Someone who might not really like Painful might really like And Then Nothing Turned Itself Inside Out, for instance. The new one kind of functions like a comp without really being one. That was my point.

Yeah, we're not going to agree on this one; but I do see your point now, that you view it more of a sampler, but I still would not recommend this album as an introductory course in YLT. I don't find the latest quite as accessible as those albums you've already listed, so I'd still tend to recommend what I think is their best and most consistent album (Painful) for someone who hadn't heard a note before. It's got the loud, it's got the quiet and frankly, the songs are just better.
