Tell me where to start, etc. I'm intrigued by her album with Chuck Brown.

Yeah, except I actually like her and stuff. Silly me.

She had a great voice. None of the songs are anything revolutionary, just a pretty, pretty voice. Not much education needed since she only had a few albums and all her stardom is posthumous. The Chuck Brown colabs were from '95. A likeable jazz album and a Christmas album. The Xmas one was released as a Chuck Brown record.

Song List: 1. Let the Good Times Roll (Lee) - 3:13 2. Fever (Cooley/Davenport) - 4:07 3. You Don't Know Me (Arnold/Walker) - 4:51 4. I Could Have Told You So (Sigman/VanHeusen) - 3:17 5. Gee Baby, Ain't I Good to You (Razaf/Redman) - 2:40 6. I'll Go Crazy (Brown) - 2:45 7. You Don't Know What Love Is (DePaul/Rye) - 4:35 8. Drown in My Own Tears (Glover) - 5:29 9. God Bless the Child (Herzog/Holiday) - 3:14 10. Red Top (Hampton/Kynard) - 2:53 11. Dark End of the Street (Moman/Pennington) - 3:51 12. Shadow of Your Smile (Mandel/Webster) - 3:27 13. Over the Rainbow (Arlen/Harburg) - 4:58 14. You've Changed (Carey/Fischer) - 3:57.

Song List: 1. Merry Christmas Baby [4:55] 2. White Christmas [4:53] 3. What Are You Doing For New Year's Eve [6:25] 4. This Christmas [4:47] 5. Silent Night [6:15] 6. God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen [5:05] 7. Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas [5:57] 8. The Christmas Song (duet with Eva) [5:33] 9. The Spirit of Christmas (duet w/Eva) [4:54]. (47 minutes)

Eva By Heart was her only "proper" studio album before she died, but there are also two posthumous studio albums (Time After Time and Imagine), a live album, two home recording albums and two compilations (Songbird and Wonderful World).

Songbird is her muiti-platinum one that every hipster claims only soccer moms should be listening to. But, again, they can fuck themselves with their pretty shoes, because Cassidy was a very nice woman with a very lovely voice. Unhurried, languid, no concern for cool, no concessions to rawk and truly sweet.

Go ahead and start with songbird. She's not a songwriter, but is a great interpreter of songs. Died of cancer in her early 30's. Plenty of information at allmusic...

Thanks for the replies. Maybe I'll pick up something. Sounds like it'd be nice for evening listening.
