At work, the guy across the street has the sweetest black lab. Perro runs (or did) around the neighborhood, making friends with whomever she meets. She'll run across the street, nilly-willy, without looking. I don't know if she's just been lucky, or is smart, but she hasn't been hit yet.

He's going to move, so he's looking for a new home for her. He gave her to someone, but she just jumped the fence, and was promptly picked up at the pound, where she now resides. :(

I have a dog, can't really afford another and I live on a very busy street out in the country, where no doubt she would just run back and forth across the street to visit other dogs/people. I could keep her chained up while I'm at work, but that seems like another bad option.

What's worse, letting her die at the pound or die "happy" on my "farm" if she gets hit or just runs away (I'm not sure she would run away, but chances are good).

Ideas, please.

Thanks!

Can you crate train her? I know she's been used to running around lose, but dogs can be trained if you take the time.

I hate for animals to lose their life just because it's inconvenient for the owner. I hope he'll find a home.

And "Perro", eh? The dog is called "Dog". Ha!

It's way easy to crate train.

Adopt her Finch...your other dog can keep her company while you're at work.

Unfortunately, too many dogs are put to sleep everyday cause nobody adopted them.

Worst case snenario, you adopt her and try to find her a home yourself, in the meanwhile, she's happy on your "farm".
