You magnificent son of a motherless goat!! That is it!

Now, why is that in the preview?

And Chase, life takes you places, man.

I guess "Man of the Year" will suck since Barry Levinson has such a bad resume.... directing "Rainman" & "Good Morning Vietnam", "Wag The Dog", "The Natural". Writing & directing "Diner", "Avalon", "Tin Men", "Liberty Heights"... co-writing "Tootsie"

Know the difference between a directors movie & a star vehicle

You forgot Envy, Bandits, Sphere, Toys, Bugsy and a whole bunch of other shitty movies.

Show me the artist of any sort with a perfect resume (besides Blowfly) & I'll show you a hundreds with spotty resumes that made amazing shit.

I'm just saying automatically lowering MotY to RV level is pretty short sided. There's huge difference between a film made by an accomplished writer/director who makes his movies and a converted cinematographer who's written nothing & never done anything but star vehicles. Even if they share a star. You don't like the star then you don't like the star. But to not see beyond that star is pretty ignorant film consumption

It's all a matter of personal taste but I don't think I would call any Barry Levinson film a classic, other than The Natural & Diner, and those were made more than 20 years ago. That's a whole lot of crappy movies since then, none of which are any better or worse than whatever Barry Sonnenfeld has done, but that's my feeling on the subject.

Also, he looks like a more feminine Bea Arthur.

No actually its not.

You're staring at a screen for two hours and paying ten bucks + to do so, shouldn't you like what you're staring at?

Maybe if it was an ensemble or a Woody Allen movie, definitely both (in the case of Deconstructing Harry where Williams was hilariously out of focus), but i say no to Levinson.

At least "Man of the Year" is somewhat of a different idea, still I have no intentions on seeing it.

"The Marine" looks like every other action movie ever made.

Terrible.

There are quite a few movies with a similar plot. The only one I can think of off hand is "Dave" right now. But I don't really think MoTY is going to be that original an idea.

well, the early reviews say funny one liners, terrible writing and development

even lewis black couldn't save this one.

and I thought the Levinson/Williams 'Good Morning Vietnam' was great.

I guess it was man of the year. From the brief searches I did it looks like man of the year raked in a whopping 11 million while the marine only scooped up 7 million.

Next poll: Which is less believable--Robin Williams as President, or Robin Williams as Comedian?

I guess I'm a simpleton. I saw dude on Hardball last night, and thought he was funny, and that this movie looks worth watching. I'll prolly see it this week.
