I've been warned -- drunkeness and shenanigans is par for the course. It's highly probable that I'm walking out of the venue as an Irishwoman.

Erin go bragh!!

Hell, one of my good friends went yesterday and had to go to the hospital to get stitches on a split lip. Sorry to say, this happened before she walked into the venue. I told her that she should've walked in with a bloodied face, allowed Shane to see her and earned some Pogues' cred.

Is Dri coming, if only to have a proper environment in which to frame her Jameson?

Or are she and Jame-o in a feud still...?

Dunno if she's going. Dri, ya out there?

I'm gonna get mildly intoxicated -- gotta drive home, y'know.

7 weeks without booze.

But I'd get back on the wagon for a good live version of "Boat Train."

I'm on a moderated return to the sauce. I'm not supposed to drink at all, but dammit, sometimes you just GOTTA!

You honestly think she's up yet? It's 6:45am out there.

I got to see em this past spring in Atlantic City. You almost take on a soccer hooligan mentaility when seeing them. I was talking in a belligerent irish accent all night.

They were great. The one thing I noticed was that despite Shane being a complete shell of a human being he completely held the melody for every song even if he mangled the words at times.

Which makes me think, damn, he's been singing this fucked up for years even on studio albums.

I figured she'd check it later.

or she'd be up before 7.

I'm Irish, kiss me!

It was incredible! They lived up to every expectation I had, down to the moshing, shoving and singing. And, Derris is right -- the audience takes on a complete hooligan mentality. In all my years of concert going, never have I seen an audience throw their arms around each other and wave back and forth like drunken brothers at a wedding .

First of all, let's talk about the band -- with or without Shane, they are pretty damn amazing! Oh sure, Shane gives 'em that comedy factor, but these musicians are tight as fuck, sing just great...and c'mon, who throws an accordion around like theirs does?! For old farts, they goddamn rock it.

And Shane? Oh man! Just watching the guy stumble onto the stage like your old drunken uncle at the aforementioned wedding is priceless. Dunno what he had in his red plastic cup, but it was never far away. Smoking like a damn chimney, he kept in tune the whole night long. And who understands a single word he says? The band must've learned his special language years ago -- meanwhile, the rest of us just laughed, shrugged our shoulders, turn to our neighbour and ask, "What'd he say?"

I can honestly say that I don't know their entire repertoire, but recognized a lot of the old usuals. Does it really matter? When the Irish sing, you just dance and sway along. My face was sporting a grin the entire night!

PS -- No hangover this morning!

They were at Wednesday's show. I had a shot with each round since they ran out of Guinness ten minutes into the show and I felt compelled to drink something authenticly Irish.
