We all find a new home and street teamers take up residence at CMJ. Makes me a little saddened, considering I spent more than two and a half years posting there.

But stuff changes. That's how it goes.

That's funny. I was just thinking this morning about that place, wondering what happened to it.

I was never a CMJ user but I went there last night. It was like a ghost town.

i say let the lunatics run the asylum.

I wonder what all the industry and band member lurkers think. I was pretty sure that CMJ had a high industry-lurk ratio, but I doubt Obner does yet.

I'll probably never make the magic 4,000 posts. And I'm on about 3, 956.

They'll start coming once they figure out where we all went.

But I like it here, and I'm staying. You can't get rid of me.

s'a damn shame. does anyone still post over there that hasn't made the jump here?

I still post there, because as long as there are streetteamers there will be oatmill.

CMJ lost some shine for me a few years ago, and I'm happier being at a non-affiliated site - plus, it seems more open / more of an opportunity for non-music related threads over here...

I read all your dudes' horror stories and never subscribed at all.

Still, it's kind of weird. I was a college MD back when CMJ started. I remember the first stapled issues of the weekly. Reported to it. Saw it in those pre-internet days as a musical lifeline from my dinkass town to the rest of the planet. Used to hoard the early Certain Damage discs. CMJ was part of what turned me into the freak I am today, I'm proud to say.

But now there are other sources of musical discovery and I feel like...umm...Jennifer Lopez trying to keep in touch with her first boyfriend just for old times sake....or something.

Well, most of the Inter-nerd sucks anyway.

I have never seen a CMJ magazine in my life.

I posted at that board for months before realising that CMJ was a magazine. I thought it was just a website, like Pitchfork or something.

But, like others have said, I've posted a ton more here than I ever did there. And the general democratic nature of this board makes it feel more homey.

Plus, being able to post pictures rules.

I'm probably way behind the times, but has officially become exclusively an online mag? I haven't seen a new issue in stores in like 2 years. In fact, there's one place that had the Mars Volta issue on the racks for like 7 months.

I got the Arcade Fire - Best of '04 issue a few weeks ago.

I re-subscribed recently and asked for the last 4 issues I missed on and I got them this week. Got lots of readin' to do. As long as you bug the guy in charge of subscriptions, you'll get your issues.

Wow, that sounds fair. You send your hard-earned money to CMJ for their magazine and maybe they'll send them to you...if you keep bothering them for it.

i wasn't there for barely a couple of months, but was still saddened by its demise. I hated obner at first but it grew on me.

My stance exactly. "Well, what if we left a pile of the new issue on the coffee table in the lobby here at the office, and you subscribers can swing by and pick one up after work." Distribution problem solved.

i tell you, it's been a weird thing to work for a publication that people actually get. at their house. when they're supposed to! it's weird wild stuff. i like it. i also like obner.
