Danice Reilly, 38, who described herself as a born-again Methodist, cast her ballot for President Bush.

"Of course the abortion issue," she said. "I know that George W. Bush is a godly man...and God healed me of MS."

Yeah, Todd - God stopped being Jewish and started being Republican in, like, 1 AD.

The God I believe in hangs people like Dubya by the balls from a cosmic tetherball pole and lets teenage bible campers slap him around.

The gallows humor today would normally make me laugh, but I'm just too down to even chuckle. Much love Todd, and sorry I missed you in NYC OPA! maybe we'll hook up next time i'm in town.

OPA, I'm glad that you brought this up, because this is exactly the point that Brokaw and Matthews were making this morning that I brought up in another thread. The reason that the Democrats are not more successful in the South and Midwest is that many "thoughtful, intelligent" (Brokaw) evangelical Christians for whom moral issues are a big factor in the way that they vote feel that, although they probably fall more in line with the Democrats on economic issues, they feel "mocked" by the party because of their beliefs. I think that this thread is proving that.
