I’ve seen TSOOL about 3 or 4 times and, I tell ya, I have a fantastic time every single occasion. It amazes me that Ebbott (lead singer), your non-stereotypical, roly-poly and wooly lead singer - for some reason, he would look much more comfortable playing the role of Santa Claus at a shopping mall vs jumping all over the stage and hanging off the stage scaffolding -- can find the energy night after night is beyond me, but who cares – he’s great fun! Throughout their performance, he actually knelt in front of me and hugged me on three separate occasions. After the show, my friends asked, “Tania, what was with all the attention tonight?” Hell, I dunno, I was just as baffled as everyone else.
I have newfound respect for their guitarist, Bjorn – I don’t think I ever truly took notice or appreciated his skill. I stood in front of him, watching with awe. My head did not stop bobbing (more like bangin’) the entire night. And, goddamn, the band was fucking LOUD! What a huge mistake I made in not wearing earplugs. When is the hissing sound supposed to go away?
They performed 18 songs in all – two encores – lotsa new stuff to a sold out show at The Troubadour. New album comes out domestically in early March. I’ve got the setlist in my truck – if any of you are really interested, I can post it later.
It was a short tour gig – possibly a practice run before touring Europe. If you’ve never seen this band before, gosh, you really should. Good times, m’friend, good times!
Other noteworthy musicians in attendance – the entire Razorlight band and a couple of members from The Delays.
