I just tried going to their website, but it seems to be defunct. This is taken from Google's cache as retrieved on Nov 26, 2005 08:14:10 GMT:

Happy new year everybody. Lots of good stuff going on. Our record is but a few days away from finally being done. We'll be putting a new song on the site very shortly. The record is tentatively called "People That I Meet", but, like I said, that's tentative. A track listing goes as follows:

1) People That I Meet
2) Julie Tender
3) Ohio Room
4) Green Grass
5) Drunk Dancer
6) Take Me Down Another Way
7) Princeton Junction
8) Don't You Ever
9) Fight or Make Up Mind
10) Beggars Throne

The most recent item on that same cached version of their band website is dated 9/1/2005, where they announce they will be playing the Startime Intl. showcase at CMJ. But even though they are still listed as an artist on the Startime website, everything merely references their last album from back in 2003.

So, I ask you, WTF???

Does anyone know their wherabouts and when/if the above-referenced "new album" will finally see the light of day? I listened to Beat Beat Heartbeat this morning and realized I am in DESPERATE need of new material from them, because they are GREAT.

FT, I was thinking the same thing the other day as I found my copy of Beat beat Heartbeat.

I threw it in, unfortunately it didn't really hold up over the past couple years.

Weird...it's the opposite for me. I love it more now than ever! In fact, if i ever made a movie, "The Right Hand" would be the track during the opening credits.

I can find a band called Virginia Dare, but not a record label. Need more info, please.

I was wondering about this the other day too when it suddenly occured to me that the national and the natural history are two different bands and I used to like the natural history.

Sorry, Bob. This was a continuation of the CROATOAN thing. It's not real.

Well, what's CROATOAN? I don't get the reference. I'm not used to being on the outside of an inside joke. This is weird.

Sorry - stupid early colonial joke. There was a "lost" British colony that mysteriously disappeared. The only thing left was a tree that had CROATAN carved into it. Nobody knows what it means. And see, the band has also mysteriously disappeared. And that's why it's funny. Or not.

And Virginia Dare was the first English child born in the colonies, there at Roanoke.

Now you know how I feel when I read about half of your posts. At least the ones that reference the Simpsons and Seinfeld.

I'd have figured OPA would've chimed in on this by now.

Anybody have any news on this front? I still can't find anything, and it makes me sad.

There are some newer details down in the comments, but they don't sound very promising. Somebody needs to give the Tepper brothers a pep talk!

By April 1586, relations with a neighboring tribe had degraded to such a degree that they attacked an expedition led by Lane to explore the Roanoke River. In response he attacked the natives in their capital, where he killed their weroance, Wingina.

But did it hang like sleeve of wizard?
