For the second time in my life, I am gonna see the Tournament of Roses Parade in person. Since George Lucas is the Grand Marshall, there will be approximately 200 Storm Troopers as part of the parade. I think I should dress as an Ewok or something.

Btw, the one and only time I've been to the parade was many years ago. After spending the night VERY intoxicated, sleeping in a stranger's car, losing my glasses and scarf, finding glasses later (sans one lens), feeling like death, throwing up while walking...I vowed never to spend a night on Colorado Blvd again. I've made it a point to go sober this time.

I've gotta admit -- seeing a team of Storm Troopers marching down Colorado Blvd was pretty damn fuckin' awesome! Not to mention the marching band dedicated to Star Wars.

Other highlight? Seeing Flaming Lips Wayne on a float. He and his wife waved and gave us a 'thumbs up' when we shouted out, 'WAAAAAAAAAAAAYNE!! FLAAAAAAAAAAAMING LIPS!!!"

I'm such a geek.

Ohhh and I have to add that seeing the Stealth Bomber fly overhead is pretty damn amazing. That thing is frickin' loud!

You can watch the parade all you want on tv. I'm sure it's replaying over and over again.

We used to go over to Orange Grove Blvd every year when I was a kid and sleep on the lawn of the Wrigley Mansion (short ride from Boyle Heights/Highland Park). nothing like seeing the parade start up... it was surreal for a kid. Musta prepared me for psychedelics.
