It's a good 'un. Won Best Picture, Director and Screenplay.

Now if you want a great Billy Wilder movie that nobody's heard of, try One Two Three.

It's one of those movies, like Sunset Boulevard or Some Like It Hot that people claim to have seen and love, but not many really have or do.

A lot of movies, moreso than music, don't hold up too well over the years.

i watch it three or four times a year, and it keeps getting better for me. It's not unlike a Cohen brothers movie in that the language is unique to the film so that it doesn't eally seem dated.

i've seen "some like it hot" a bunch of times and i don't enjoy it.

Saw some of it years ago. Can't remember it much though.

I love older movies and this is one I keep meaning to check out again, the whole way through.

Own the Apartment on DVD and really adore it. Besides this and Sunset Blvd, though, I haven't been particularly taken with Wilder's other movies.

I just earlier today added this to my Netflix queue. I have certain directors where I keep one film of their's in the queue at a time. It was time to add a Wilder film, and this seemed to be the best of the those I hadn't seen yet. Watched the trailer and looks amusing.

The Apartment is one of Wilder's worst, IMO. Hectic, shrill, and smug. And every passing year it seems a little worse.

Own it in the Billy Wilder boxset. Great film. Fred McMurray always gets me.

McMurray certainly does sleaze it up nice. This is the first film I saw that made me realize that Shirley MacLaine was indeed pretty hot back in the day.

??? I don't get you sometimes and where are you encountering fucktards that do this?

I saw this during my college days when I vowed to see every movie on the AFI Top 100 movies of all time. Vision Video had a deal where you could rent 5 old releases for 5 bucks. Best deal in town.

Great screenplay and great acting but I have no desire to see it again.

Still haven't gotten around to seeing everything on that list. Still need to mark these off:

10. SINGIN' IN THE RAIN (1952)
16. ALL ABOUT EVE (1950)
23. THE MALTESE FALCON (1941)
33. HIGH NOON (1952)
34. TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD (1962)
35. IT HAPPENED ONE NIGHT (1934)
37. THE BEST YEARS OF OUR LIVES (1946)
38. DOUBLE INDEMNITY (1944)
39. DOCTOR ZHIVAGO (1965)
51. THE PHILADELPHIA STORY (1940)
52. FROM HERE TO ETERNITY (1953)
53. AMADEUS (1984)
54. ALL QUIET ON THE WESTERN FRONT (1930)
63. STAGECOACH (1939)
68. AN AMERICAN IN PARIS (1951)
69. SHANE (1953)
70. THE FRENCH CONNECTION (1971)
73. WUTHERING HEIGHTS (1939)
74. THE GOLD RUSH (1925)
76. CITY LIGHTS (1931)
81. MODERN TIMES (1936)
82. GIANT (1956)
85. DUCK SOUP (1933)
87. FRANKENSTEIN (1931)
90. THE JAZZ SINGER (1927)
91. MY FAIR LADY (1964)
92. A PLACE IN THE SUN (1951)
97. BRINGING UP BABY (1938)

Although the chances of me ever seeing any of those before 1940 are pretty slim.

I was out with some friends the other night and we were doing top five people you'd sleep with or go gay for if given the chance. Any time period, too. I chose MacLaine in The Apartment and everyone looked at me like I was crazy. She was adorable in that movie. Now she's just a crazy old bat.

I would have to say Constance Bennett...or Bette Davis.

Now that's the Wilder/MacLaine/Lemmon movie that doesn't hold up, not The Apartment

Never actually seen it. Just watched the trailer yesterday. It's mostly a cartoon. The trailer, that is.
