I watch a lot of CMT, and I can never quite tell if my enjoyment of it is purely ironic of not. The musicians are obviously complete toolboxes, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't find the over-the-top story songs kind of mesmerizing. I also like how there are all these weird similarities between country videos and hip hop videos. They're both full of barely-dressed women, and while Toby Keith ain't braggin' 'bout his rims, you'll always get a few shots of his fancy belt buckles and cowboy boots.

Also, being a guitar nerd, I do enjoy seeing people work telecasters the way they all seem to.

When it comes down to it, I think I'd rather watch country videos than 95% of the stuff MTV plays. Not saying much, I know, but...

I'm a notorious channel surfer. The show that was on before Dolly was a Johnny Cash retrospective. You can't surf past Johnny.
