So, CMJ still owes me a considerable hunk of money for the freelancing I did for them starting back in '02. They've made a dent in that sum over the last year but my most recent check never made it to my mailbox. After bugging their twit of a pay clerk the last couple weeks (and being assured that the check had gone out some time ago) I get a message from the payroll clerk here at the paper that a check from CMJ was somehow sent to me here (the address for my subscription) care of the newspaper. Thankfully they realized CMJ wasn't an account payable and called me about it to come and get the check.

Ughh... No wonder that mag is a shell of its former self.

Props to Steve C and Whiney, but CMJ lost most of its gears when Frampton left in '04. And even then, it was sputtering.
Sad.

If they didn't, nobody bothered to tell them it's broke.

Figuring in the misguided check I'll get on Monday, it might now be just under $3,000.

I was in every issue from late '02 through end of '04, and that's when they were still publishing monthly (or close to it).
Three or four reviews an issue plus the occasional feature adds up.
