It's their first jaunt in five years

Sparklehorse have announced the dates of their first US tour in five years.

The jaunt kicks off in Austin and hits several US cities before wrapping up in Atlanta in March.

Sparklehorse will support their latest album, 'Dreamt For Light Years In The Belly Of A Mountain', released in the US in fall 2006. The album features collaborations with Danger Mouse, Steven Drozd of the Flaming Lips and Tom Waits.

Jesse Sykes & The Sweet Hereafter will open on the tour, supporting their third full-length album, 'Like, Love, Lust & The Open Halls of the Soul', which will see a February 6 US release.

The tour dates are:

hmm... really? i thought i saw them open for the flaming lips in april 2003.

I've seen them twice, once while linkous was in a wheelchair when the first album came out...awful

Saw them again at the bowery ballroom after Its A Wonderful Life came out...equally awful.

Boring, no stage presence, don't waste your money.

I thought they were alright on the It's a Wonderful Life tour.

But I don't really remember that show very well. Pretty hazy.

Looks like me and jagged will be seeing this show on 2/3 with a very special Obner guest. I've never heard a lick of Sparklehorse, though, so could someone YSIPLSKTHX their back catalog to me?

saw these guys tonight on a whim.
previous assessments are correct.
no stage presence or signs of life.
plus an extremely short set.
but i got to fingerbang the bartender.
so it's all good.

you see, this is why people go to shows even when they may not live up to expectations. if someone's (finger)banging a bartender at every awful show, then the promise is always there that even an awful show could have an upside.

caught 'em last night too. really boring. i wasn't even done w/ my first double bourbon, that i'd ordered at the beginning, before they ended -- even w/ the encore.
