I'll say it again...2006 was the best year for new music in at least 15 years. You people were just listening to the wrong albums.

I haven't heard anything yet in 2006 that i missed and don't think i'd change my list at all.

so what was your top 5?

Very interesting list. I haven't heard of about half of those and out of the ones who's names I recognize there's only one album I've actually heard.

Eingya - Helios... would have been top 5.

Reminds me of the first Four Tet... I let it play in the car for two weeks in a row and it never gets old. Now that I can't have opiates, I use music like this (Miles, Arvo Paart, Gregorian chant, Thuja...) to call bullshit on my wayward heart.

I recently bought this and really like it. It's possible it could have made my top 20.

Grammys and all, I should have put the Dixie Chicks in my top 20, even top 10. That album is amazing and spends alot of time in my player.

I bought this in '06, loved it in '06 and forgot to include it in my top 20 of '06.

D'oh.

Okay, so this album arrived today, and it would have, undoubtedly made my top 20... maybe eve top 5:
Steve Ison - The Stars Are Never Really Distant

A bedroom recording guy who is working the Net for all it's worth. And, damn, if he doesn't deserve some recognition.

RIYL: Martin Newell, Psychadelic Furs, Kinks, XTC

I know that I've posted this link before, but here are some streaming tracks:
