Huh, look at the big brain on thrillhouse.

Edwards should introduce himself as "Hello I'm John Edwards, and I'm a fag."

I'd say a commentator calling a Democratic Presidential candidate a "faggot" in a room holding several Republican Presidential candidates is a "real issue", & a pretty telling one at that.

I can't legitimately be upset with Coulter because i just used the same word to describe Win Butler after finding out his favorite movie is The Black Cauldron.

that's a real issue? did you happen to hear that the country is in a war that it can't get out of and no one knows why?

all what you are saying tells me is that that lady is some kind of bitch who likes to wind people up and that republicans are assholes who don't like anyone who isn't already in the room with them. what's the news exactly?

Oh, I know why. It's because of the type of people who think it's OK to go around calling people "faggots".

And I'd suggest that our country's not in a war - our military is. Our country's worried about who dumped their load into Anna Nicole Smith, & who's gonna win this year's "American Idol".

Only if you're desperately looking for a way to excuse all of the Germans who sat back and allowed the holocaust to happen.

I didn't say it was right...it's just how I see it. People are tragically uniformed in this country.

in my view, the country would be more worried about what actually going on in the world if the media would focus on it instead of crap like this. i don't see it as much different from the anna nicole bullshit. the system only works if there is transparancy and the only way that happens is if the government is held accountable by the media. you can blame the average joe for not being civic minded, but he doesn't get much of a chance to be because the information he has easy access to is total garbage. and that's intentional.

The only problem I have with her comment is that even if I don't take her seriously, she's selling it to be who do and who are consistantly making life worse for alot of people in america.
I saw yesterday where Bill Maher is under attack now for saying something about us being better off if Cheney was dead. While he probably shouldn't say it, it is regrettably true and consistant with what alot of people think.
To me it all goes back to what John Ameche said about Tim Hardaway's comments and apology. These sort of comments and tirades only go to further "fag bashing" when we try to laugh them off. Plus, we are dumbing down political punditry to the point where flaming someone with an insult is more worthy of genuine criticism.

While I agree with you about the dumbing down of punditry, I bet 19th and 18th century political observers were even more puerile in their attacks.

I find her entertaining in the same way that I laugh when monkeys throw poo.

But, what is disturbing to me is that she is a welcomed guest at such events where people who do weild political power sit. Sure, you can say they are not responsible for her comments, but inviting her and not expecting some sort of comment shows a degree of stupidity almost as troublesome as the comments she is bound to make.

They also challenged each other to duels if they thought the insults went to far and damaged their honor and reputation.

I agree 100% on the idea that the media hasn't been doing their jobs for a looooooong time - especially TV news. Probably 95% of TV news is out & out garbage.

BUT - I think there's loads of loads of accessible, good info out there. The Internet's everywhere now, & for those without it there's still a lot of good newspapers. People just choose to ignore it.

I've had some interesting observations in this job I started a couple months ago...in the breakroom, there's 3 plasma screen TV's. One's tuned to Fox News, one's on CNN, & the last one's on Headline News. My dinner break coincides with when the dreckfest "Nancy Grace" airs. And when I enter that breakroom, everyone - EVERYONE - is clustered around TV #3.

And when my coworkers are sitting around shootin' the shit, these are the topics of conversation :

1. Anna Nicole Smith
2. "American Idol"
3. Whatever "abducted child" story if Nancy Grace's story du jour.
4. Whatever pile of dogshit movie came out the weekend previous ( take your pick - "Norbit", "Wild Hogs", etc. ) .

And these are what I would consider average, nice, "regular American" people. I've never heard them talk about anything remotely political in 2 months.
