Speaking of Husker Du, how about the entire SST catalog?

Meat Puppets already got one. :D
But I completely agree with the Hüsker Dü and Replacements.

Um... R.E.M., anyone? At least the IRS stuff.

Even though I realize the box is coming, Neil Young's early albums need to be remastered and made into deluxe editions.

A 2-disc version of Tonight's the Night with the "original" David Briggs version on the second disc would be awesome.

I don't want to re-buy a bunch of Neil Young CDs though. For the most part I think his extras, rarities, and unreleased albums would be better served as part of a box set (which hopefully will contain stuff like Homegrown and Chrome Dreams in their entireity) or on their own.

However, that Fillmore East concert could easily just have been a bonus disc included with a reissue/remaster of Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere.

Thin Lizzy is up there, especially "Black Rose" and "Bad Reputation", I totally agree with the SST thing, and all the Homestead shit. Jesus Lizard's Touch and Go material. Naked Raygun for sure. Smoking Popes.
Deep Purple !!!!, The Outlaws, how about some fucking Squirrell Bait ?

Yeah, I think the CD mastering for these could be improved, but I would hate for someone to muck with them too much.

The vinyl I have of Liar sounds perfect so I think the relatively weak sound with the CDs may just have something to do with Albini's distaste for the format. It would be great if he could oversee the remastering himself, but I'll bet he doesn't want to mess with them. And I don't think he and the band parted on the best terms.

Dark Side of the Moon: The Super Deluxe Remastered Edition. Now in surround sound. Comes with a copy of the Wizard of Oz and a bonus disc of nothing but kaleidescope images.

I've got it, it's similar to the earlier Drywall stuff in that it's hit and miss. There's some really neat stuff, and then a lot of filler, and then some stuff that is just noise.

What on earth is re-mastering going to do for Squirrel Bait?

Even though I don't think I'd mind some REM re-issues I'm not sure I see the reason other than a money grab (which most are anyway).

I think the IRS stuff still sounds great and I always thought that they were pretty economic with what they put out. I just don't see there being this whole treasure trove of material out there to put on a deluxe edition for any of those.

They were good about putting that stuff out anyway on b-sides, Dead Letter Office, etc.

There is probably some live stuff from the early 80's out there somewhere that I might be interested in but I don't see people finding some obscure cover that they went into the studio to record and didn't release it.

You prompted me to do a search on Squirell Bait..you see I had not realized these albums were available on CD, but apparently Drag City re-issued them some time ago. I've still got the Homestead vinyl..so in answering the above question..."it ain't gonna do nothin'"

Supposedly, these are ready & done. It's just a matter of finding a release date.

cool, i'm glad i've held off on buying these on cd then.

i'll also agree with the smiths, early U2 and REM suggestions.

and i'll selfishly add that the stone roses s/t album could use a remaster/deluxe treatment.

yeah...I have the "IRS Vintage Years" versions of the early albums and they basically just have the Dead Letter Office tracks associated with each album period tacked on

When is that Exile In Guyville deluxe edition coming out?

dont you people have better things to waste your money on than rebuying albums you have?

bands should put together bsides/rarities on separate disc(s) and stop cashing in
