i think FT just meant it as a joke, although your analysis on a possible morr/764 collaboration was quite inciteful.

if all he did was make sonic youth albums and tour i'd buy the quote, but the quote was why does he do all those other things. and if he's saying he does all his wierd side projects to support his family he's being disingenuous. i bet he loses money on a good portion of his side projects.

So if i teach summer school, or get extra cash for doing the high school musical, or teach at that rock n roll summer camp, all of a sudden i'm a disingenous teacher?

You don't know the particulars of his recordings, and my guess is that there are plenty of people willing to give thurston some spec time in their studio, if he doesn't already have his own studio to jack off in.

Likewise, there are enough idiots out there to buy every single thing he shits onto a cd to turn a profit, or at least clear costs.

Anyhow, count me among the people who think it's a fine analogy.
