MetsReportedly, a fan fell from one of the upper levels at Shea Stadium yesterday, landing on a patron and causing injury.

Ellen Massey, who was attending the game, was struck in the back and neck by the man. As reported by Newsday:

Shortly after the seventh-inning stretch, she said, a man dressed in a green Army-type jacket tumbled from higher seats and onto her back, knocking the wind out of her and, ultimately, causing serious injury.

"I only know he came flying," Massey, 58, said Wednesday from her bed in Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx. "I was literally not able to breathe for about half-a-minute or so. The first thing I was aware of was not being able to breathe, and then when I was able to breathe I was aware of the pain in my lower back."

Massey was attended by two EMTs who were there to watch the game, and then by the medical staff at Shea. She is scheduled to have surgery on a vertebra tomorrow. The man who fell fled from the scene. The Mets have no comment at the time.

I understand that being a Mat fan or a baseball fan who has to watch a game at Shea can be depressing, but that's a little extreme, no?

Well, then it's understandable.

*insert bad anti-lawyer joke here*

so that's a little like people who are so bored with a game that they jump into the nets behind home plate, right?
