yea, congratulations on not winning yet.

Doesn't it seem like the US holds a disproportionate amount of Olympics?

Well, we do also have a disproportionate amount of the athletes.

With Beijing '08 & London '12, the selection will come down to the No. & So. American candidates. So, Chicago, or Rio de Janeiro? Rio has brilliant Brazilian ass, by, well, the brazillion, & great music (or billy g would have us believe...), & Chicago has the miracle mile, hallowed sporting facilities (Wrigley, of course, & the United Center (where Elvis... I mean, Michael Jordan, played), & more money than Jesus.

Should be interesting.

Chicago doesn't have the infrastructure to support Chicago, much less Chicago+ The Olympics.

I'm not entirely sure how this will work. I book a LOT of hotel rooms during the year. When there's a simple radiology convention at McCormick Place, all of the hotels are booked up. What's it going to be like when Olympians and their families and their coaching staffs and their fans show up? Fuck. We do NOT have room for this.

I'm migrating to the burbs if this happens. You are so right about the space. Can you imagine what the traffic will be like in the loop alone??? LSD will be fucked.
I mean it's bad enough trying to get around here in the summer with all the festivals, the Olympics would just make it where chicagoans will end up trapped.

The Olympics is the only 3 weeks EVER when the public transport system actually works

...At least, that was the way it was for Sydney. And believe me, our trains are useless.

...And it helped that school holidays were conveniently moved/extended to coincide with it so a bunch of people left town on the cheap flights out after all the athletes/visitors had been dropped off

If Chicago can beat out Tokyo (Rio has no chance), 2016 is going to be a blast. For everyone worried about the traffic... gimme a break. It's 3 weeks. They'll finally clean up Washington Park at long last. The trains will have to be fixed. Shell game scammers will make a mint!

Chicago has all the venues within 10 miles of one another. We are in CST which is ideal for prime time viewing. Daley is adept at greasing pockets... it's a lock.

I can't wait.

Not to mention that it's not happening tomorrow. Have you ever visited a city where there was an Olympics, or where there was one coming?

Yeah, its in 2016...There'll be time to build stuff, you fucking logistical geniuses.

As always, you're correct. Don't pay any attention to the fact that nothing EVER gets built in a timely fashion around here. Millenium Park, now the Dan Ryan, CTA, the Projects that were abandoned so they could be used for something else and are still abandoned years later... Daley can pull this off, I'm just saying that it's going to be a nightmare, whether it's tomorrow or in twenty years.
