even though I'm not a fan of either, I'm kinda glad I never knew about this.

Actually, I meant to put her System of a Down cover, "Chop Suey!". The Metallica cover is bad, but I meant the System of a Down one. Someone once tried to play it for me, and I seriously had to walk out of the room.

My musical hell is being at a outdoor christian music fest with goateed, singer songwriter types plugged into acoustic guitar amps blaring away at me.

My second circle of musical hell is being at a christian stand up comedy club, where they play goateed singer songwriter types in between sets.

It's not an anti christian thing. I'd hate it if a group of dentists decided there should be bands that only sing about all things dental.

My musical hell could include, but is certainly not limited to, the following songs:

7 scar tissue - red hot chili peppers
12 hemorrhage (in my hands) - fuel

I actually kinda like these two

This is up there for me but probably not tops.

I agree with Reggae, probably my least-favorite genre.

However, if I'm totally honest and there are no specific qualifiers to this question, I have to say listening to Santana/Rob Thomas's "Smooth" on repeat would probably be the ultimate hell.

Finally heard a song of theirs on the radio a few days ago, and I was thinking "who is this band with a low-rent Perry Farrell singer?" I also thought the bass/guitar-line was very Peter Hook-ish at moments. It struck me as very.... pop.... but not altogether horrific. It was "Wish Upon a Dog Star," btw.

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned yet, but Nuno Bettencourt from Extreme is their guitarist.

Thought that was funny.

oh ok, well, with that bit of info revealed to me, I strike anything I said previously resembling positive remarks lest my indie cred card be revoked. ;)

Splates already revoked my "testicle certificate" for admitting to liking Neko. And I haven't been the same since. So I understand your concern to a degree.

Their website is possibly the most douchebaggish site ever.

There is some amazing things in this thread.

For me, my musical hell:

James Earl Jones would be narrating every aspect of my life. I would be sitting on a park bench near dusk...

Jacob is sitting on a park bench, the red paint flacking and swear words chiseled into the wood with pocket knives, Jones pauses for a breath. At first Jacob is enjoying the scenery. The birds tweeting and the wind gently causing tree leaves to rustle together. It is altogether picturesque. But with a growing sense of trepidation Jacob realizes that this is entirely too peaceful.

At this moment the growing dusk becomes almost oppressive and the birds stop chattering. Jacob shifts uncomfortably. Shadows blur and become inky nothingness. The only illumination comes from a streetlight... a streetlight that flickers off and on irregularly.

What is that? A moving shadow?
Jones' voice becomes more urgent. At first Jacob misses it. Then it flickers on the corner of his eye. He strains to see through the darkness. But there is nothing there.

Jacob wants to leave. But he cannot.

A creature emerges from the dark. Two creatures with hideous faces. They get closer and Jacob realizes that they are, in fact, men. In their hands are guitars. With a silent scream Jacob realizes that the two men are the dudes from Insane Clown Posse!!
Here Jones' voices reaches a high, maniacal pitch. Their faces are painted white and black, like a twisted clown. In their hands they hold guitars.

Jacob is briefly confused: Insane Clown Posse actually use instruments?

With a hoarse, gleeful laugh the ICP advance. The one raises the guitar above his head and brings it with a crash across Jacob's skull. In real life Jacob would be knocked out or worse. In hell he is given no such blessing. Instead he gets the pain in all of its undulled glory. At this point ICP is thrashing him with their guitars. The one has a sharp edge that cleaves flesh, the other is swung with such force that bones break.

Jacob tries to close his eyes, but even when the lids are screwed shut, he can still see the scene unfolding. There is no escape.
Jones voice gets deathly quiet. There is no escape.
