spyware question

my pc at home is unbelievably fucked with spyware, and every time I try to run spybot it gets 3/4 of the way through and then crashes...apparently I have something really fucked up on my machine. What other free programs are out there that might get rid of these bugs?

how screwed up is it? if you can back up your files, you might want to think about reinstalling windows. its good to do it anyway once a year or so.
