I guess I'm not up on my videos, but I always thought the bit in the Clash Rock the Casbah video was hilarious when the Hasidic picks up the hitchhiking Arab and they go on to Burger King.

Never much of an MTV-ite, even when they played videos, but I agree with the already-mentioned Peter Gabriel ones.

I'll go out on a limb here, and say that the video for R.E.M.'s Losing My Religion probably struck me as being the best media integration to capture the essence of a song.

And, REALLY way back at the beginning, the video of Paul Simon's Rene and Georgette Magritte After The War about 1983 was the first one I ever saw that I thought had any artistic merit.

Yes. I think it had Janeane Garafalo in it also.

Did it have David Cross in it too?

Winner. I remember when this came out, the sentiment around the store was, "Man, I want to watch this show."

Because if so, you must must simply I say must see what those Tool videos were blatantly ripped off from--the films of The Brothers Quay.

I remember not being able to turn off any of Peter Gabriel's late 80's/early 90's videos (Sledgehammer, Big Time, Steam, etc).

Peter Gabriel's videos were always impressive, especially for the time periods in which they were released.

Aphex Twin's "Come to Daddy" was on MTV for a little bit I remember. And I remember seeing Radiohead's "Just."
