i'm having a grillout/drinking binge for the first F1 race of the season, and having some people over and i need some advice. is it better to buy 8 4oz filet mignon steaks for $40 or 4 6oz steaks for $40? i'm looking at omaha steaks and i don't know how much the thickness of the steak matters and stuff. they say that the 4oz ones are about 3/4" thick, and that sounds thin to me.

4oz filets are too small to satisfy most, and also hard to cook, as they will be done way fast, so I would go for the hardier portions, myself. Hope that helps.
Geez, my first post here and I'm Julia friggin' Child....oh well, some know me from CMJ.

are you planning on serving a lot of other dishes? That would offset any possible reservations about if you are afraid that the 4oz'ers would be too small.

Dude, spend $5 on a London Broil, and spend the money you save on more booze.

steak, F1, and margaritas? Why don't you just turn on a Sex and the City marathon instead, nancy.

what's wrong with margaritas? it's a great way to get tequilla into your mouth AND fight kidney infections.

I agree you cant do justice with 4 oz. unless you are doing some sit down fancy thing.. where there is one piece of asparagus and a 4 oz fm...

Go down to your local butcher and get some choice cuts... Omaha steaks are good but overpriced

how you do?

Absolutely!

Would you be willing to do NASCAR, burgers, and Boone's Farm next week.

Yes. Yes. 1000 Times YES!! (except Boone's is a bit sweet, will you settle for redbellies?)

Despite your abandonment of steak I will interject my 2 cents: You can get 5 FAT NY strips at Sam's for about 22 bucks.

If you are a member.

And they have some nice deals on seafood as well.
