I'd cross your toes as well.

It's 1:30am. Just arrived home smelling of marijuana, yet elated cuz the last room I was in was Ian Brown's dressing room in the backstage of the House of Blues. And, yes, Ian was present, as were the rest of his band and Darrin's "favourite" band, Starsailor. Got a hug and a kiss from Mr. Brown, a couple of autographs and chatted with him a bit. He was very nice and seemed genuinely pleased to meet us.

While he didn't give a stellar performance -- show started quite rocky with Ian sounding horribly off-key, a variety of sound problems heard only by him and several stopped songs -- it did end fairly good. Once he warmed up, the voice returned, and it was back to the tunes many of us all know and love. I seriously thought I was going to have to walk out if I endured further off-key singing, but I'm glad that patience persevered and elated that I went.

The reviews of the NY show were awful - the consensus was that he was too stoned to sing or remember a majority of the lyrics. Shame, since he has a pretty nice collection of solo singles. The 'greatest hits' they put out this fall will be solid.

Just incase it's not clear she's being funny. My fatwah is still very much in force.

I heard the same and was expecting the worst. It took about 4-5 songs in for him to FINALLY relax his voice and find his groove. If it had been anyone else, I probably would've walked out. It was THAT bad. Luckily, he redeemed himself and the show went much more smoothly.

And, Darrin --- when I saw the Starsailor boys, I immediately thought, "Oh shit, I can hear Darrin telling 'em what a bunch of worthless pansies they are." It was actually interesting watching them fawn over Ian. Just regular fans like you and I.
