So my friends in a local Atlanta band are releasing their CD in May. They have been making some noise on the ATL scene (opening for Jet, Hot Hot Heat, etc.) I am trying to come up with a good list of places (web and magazine) they should send their CD in hopes of a review.

So far I was thinking

Pitchfork
CMJ
Paste
Fader
Magnet

What other suggestions can the almighty obner come up with?

Blender?

Hell, with the pedigree of bands they have been opening for I would send it to Spin and Rolling Stone.

Def get it to the ATL locals...Creative Loafing..whatever that otehr one is, that one Discostu talked about...

Go to the fucking bookstore and start writing names down, then call and ask who the music editor is, and address it to him personally. Maybe even put in a fake press release (i'd be more than happy to write it for you). Then follow up with a phone call and see if he/she has listened to it and wants to interview them.

I did this for my boy Tommy before SXSW last year (for a movie) and he got some pub..a few indie mags and several Spanish-language websites and publicatiosn (it was a doc about immigration)

PM me if you want more suggestions, or my services E.

you could send it to us, but it all honesty the numbers are kind of against you. although i'm sure those other publications listed get more CDs. right now we get about 250-300 cds/month so the vast majority of stuff goes unreviewed. best of luck.

I did. Not really my brand of vodka, but I can see why they would be getting some attention.

I am totally biased so glad to hear a different opinion than all my other friends who are such superfans that they leave before Hot Hot Heat goes on. Those kind of actions make me doubt the authenticity of their taste.

This music is definitely Power Pop
