I think Bloor and Dave were the only ones that went.

I was all set to make the trek, but I had a 730 AM debut on the Morris and Montiel Show this morning.

Really?

If so, I hope you started the show like this:

"We'd like to welcome you to the show this morning. Thanks for joining us."

"WUH WRONG WIT DUH BEEAH WE GOT?!?"

I did drop "Shocking News out of Montgomery" and tell a dude that if he didn't think that the American people could adapt and overcome, and solve the energy crisis that he didn't believe in America and wasn't fit to lead.

Great show last night, despite the change to a shitty venue.

I missed the opener, heard his stuff online and didn't really care to see him.

Padma wasn't playing on this tour, but they added a horn section that was up there for most of the night and Doveman on keyboards. They definitely re-worked a couple of tunes to add more horns.

New songs sound fantastic, they opened with one called runaway and another that they've been playing called vanderlyle crybaby.

My quick hits...

--Great set. They played for close to two hours, very appropriate for a larger venue and a $25 ticket price. Set was pretty Boxer heavy which was fine by me. New songs were good, though one was a little meandering and possibly not fully fleshed out IMHO.

--The opener was the sax player from the horn section alternating between a regular sax and a gigantic sax making honking noises through a bunch of delay and echo. Beyond horrific. It says alot about southern hospitality that the guy received polite applause because he really should have been beaten by an angry mob. But whatever, it was short and I shot the shit the whole time.

--The lead guitarist and especially the drummer for The National are fucking awesome. The drummer looks like an extra from Semi-Pro, and rather effortlessly just rips it up.

--It took me a while but I figured out who Matt Berninger reminds me of: Manhunter era William Peterson

Oh yeah, scanning the crowd I came up with a great bit: A bench press contest outside an indie rock show. I'd bet good money that chicks would win 8 of the top 10 spots.
