For the PC experts on the board:

I was using Internet Explorer 4 being that the PC
I have at the moment is old and I didn't want to risk
fucking things up by downloading a newer version. However, with
the new version of SLSK that came out, for some reason,
I needed to download IE 5 to make it work. I did and now
I'm back online.

I found and downloaded a copy from the SLU university website of
all places. Tough I am grateful for the browser, there's
this logo of the uni embeded within the browser.

Any way I could remove said logo? or is it coded in a way
that it cannot be removed?

Other question:

Using windows media player 6.4.

Lately, when I click on a video file, I get this
msg:

"LSX-mpeg player was not designed to run on machines that are
not MMX enabled the player will not render the stream"

What does it mean and can it be fixed?

Much thanks for the help.

i dont know how to remove it, but you might want to try this website:
http://www.oldversion.com/
its got old versions of lots of software. it seems to be down right now (at least i cant get to it), and im not sure if it has any old ie versions, but give it a shot anyway. for the second question, i know mmx was a chip enhancement intel put in a few years ago, so i guess it cant play it because you dont have the right processor. (if you can) download the newest version of wmp and see if it changes anything.

Thanks for the tip.

I've actually answered my own question here with this little program:

http://www.dougknox.com/utility/scripts ... nbrand.htm

Hope it's gonna clear it right up. Also, tnx for the oldversion site. I'll try and download media player 7.1 and see if that will fix the problem.
