the album sounds a lot like Keane actually. very beautiful, with his gentle vocals. the opening track "birch" is incredible, as well as "daze of nothing" and "full of voices".

surprised you dig this.

i know, it's weird, i have this tendency to actually listen to things before i decide if i like them or not without looking at a magazine for guidance. i probably need to stop that.

I have it and its the only album that I like all that much from 2005 so far. I haven't heard that many though.

I haven't heard anything off this, but earlier tracks I heard reminded me of Thievery Corporation mixed with Keane. AKA something I'd like that other people might not.

Looking at an online review now, I see the reviewer says Hecker's ditched the downtempo for Eno-by-way-of-Wainwright kinda tone. Guess I'll have to hear it.

actually, reading reviews of records before you hear them is probably the worst thing you can do IMO. you're on the right track.

definitely no downtempo on this. more on the mellow, acoustic, slightly sappy tip.
