I said "reg rock crowd" not reg rock itself, fearing the semi inevitable lambasting anything facing a band like Spoon has been getting. Not the case here? Awesome. I never said it was avant garde, just quiet and falsetto-ey.

For Emma, Forever Ago is sensitive break-up record, which is kind of a rite of passage in the singer/songwriter canon, while Britt Daniel sings as a 30-something about getting beat-up by bullies as a kid.

Who's the bigger pussy in this scenario?

I've been really surprised how much I like that album (Emma), moreso perhaps after seeing so many friends who usually like similar stuff NOT like it. I don't know why it landed so solidly, but yeah, it's in there. Maybe I didn't come at it with any predispositions? Or is that flattering myself... I donno. Either way finding another album to like can't be a bad thing I guess.

Exactly. For the record, I voted Bon Iver. Does it for me, while Gimme Fiction does as well, but more superficially.

I like both. Went with Spoon. Turn My Camera On is one of my favorite songs of the decade.

Bon Iver was good live, though. Spoon was boring.

Went with Bon Iver because I'll vote for another Spoon record over this one.
