Much like Ween, I've come to realize I've got some implicit knee-jerk hatred for the Flaming Lips that I can't quite explain.

So, neither.

I think I know the songs you're talking about but I didn't have MTV and only heard them far after those particular tunes got them exposure.

Don't really ever have the desire to pull out some M.Ward despite liking some of his work.

I do, however, still enjoy the occasional Lips binge.

"Ego Tripping At The Gates of Hell" still sounds pretty sublime.

M.Ward

It's a phenomenal work. It is almost a folk concept album, which would generally be a disaster in my opinion.

I remember listening to that M. Ward the year it came out and I couldn't get through the first few songs. Just was not my alley at all. A few years later after I fell in love with his later releases, I went back to this and on some days it's my favorite thing he's done.

Hi-Fi, Fuel for Fire, Big Boat, Deep Dark Well and I'll Be Yr Bird are my favorite tracks offa there.

Lips I guess, but for every time they make something good, they make something else equally not-so-good.

I don't love that flaming lips album, but the singles (Do You Realize, Fight Test) are awesome.
