It's actually driftwood for my fish tank. Geez, why is wood so expensive? Next time, I'll just ask some of you who live near lakes or rivers to send me some for free. :D

I buy my fair share of fish tank scenery--castles, grottos, bridges, etc. for my geeky miniature-painting hobby. $40 seems a bit high, though. Don't you have a Petsmart nearby?

I tried going to quite a few fish stores but they didn't have what I was looking for. I ordered them onoline through Drs Foster & Smith.

EDIT: I did buy 5 pieces so I guess it's not quite so expensive. But it's still wood for God's sake.

I wish I lived in Pennsylvania. They seem to have the best fish stores over there.

40 bucks on wood was just too easy. i struggled on it, but i knew somebody else would've been all over that if I wasn't. Pre-emptive jackassery was my M.O. here.

LOL...fucker, why didn't you say anything. I would've loved to meet you. I just seem to lose focus these days with school and all.

Well, if you do, email me since I don't really check the board everyday.

Looks like you spend a lot of time on "wood" as well.

I just spent $173 on paper.

(I got 4 mini sets of plans printed of projects I have done at my office, for upcoming interviews for new jobs. I had no idea it was going to be more expensive. I would have been more patient and ordered 1 at a time when I was getting other stuff for the office and bury it in the costs to the owners.)

Chris, it's expenses like driftwood that are keeping from getting a tank. I'll just keep wanting to buy neat-o crap for it.

This may be obvious to some, but people have killed fish in their aquariums by putting wood that's been in saltwater into a freshwater tank, and verse visa.

I usually just use sticks and rocks I find at the beach, and leave the driftwood displays to the rich city-types.

conversation I overheard one morning in a corner store between the guy stocking the potato chip rack and the counter clerk:

"....So she wanted it put everywhere in the bedroom."

"Your wife likes the wood, huh?"

"Oh, my wife LOVES the wood."

As it turned out, they were discussing pine and maple decor. But you can see why I snickered.
