My little brother asked for some DJ equipment for Christmas, and the only thing I can afford, maybe, is headphones. He asked for some Skullcandy skater bullshit which is obviously not the right choice, so I'm wondering what (reasonably priced) headphones the Obner DJs wear. Dan, any thoughts?

i have some sennheisers but they're not really made for dj'ing since the earphone doesn't flip around but that isn't really crucial.

The right choice is getting him the cheap shitty ass skullfucker ones he wants instead of spending more money on something that will just piss him off because you didn't listen to him and instead wanted to prove you know better.

superb bass response, loud as hell, and solid, can take a beating.

yeah, those 700s are really nice and took a beating from me for years before one of the swivels busted.

best thing about them was their ability to hold solid audio clarity even at a really loud volume. sometimes you'd have to have the monitors cranked super loud just to be able to hear what you were playing, and with these headphones, you could still hear what you were mixing in perfectly.

I have incredibly cheap and crappy Coby headphones that have never caused me any problems while int he moment of DJ'ing, granted I don't do anything too fancy, but I'm able to block out the live music and get an accurate reading of how the song compares to what's currently playing.
