Great Lakes... I always forget they're there. Shit that may turn the tide.

I'm not what some people call a "car person" -- I don't drive for any shear pleasure of it and don't really have any interest in shelling out a lot of coin for a fancy luxury car. I can't imagine though being so against cars though given their utility in getting me and my stuff from one place to another relatively hassle free. If I had to tool around in one of them zipcars, I might hate cars too. To each his own though.

I can't say i really disagree with Derris. If you are hellbent on not renting a car then its probably a waste of time flying all the way to Anaheim.

This + "I wish you had a car and a garage so you could park the car in the garage and leave it running"

This type of logic is so fail it doesn't make me want to skewer, Kyle, just pity you.

My brother - a peace living hippie peace of shit who is 1.24 billion times more of a hippe weirdo than you and your (awesome) wife could ever hope to be owns a car (lives in DC) and was the first guy to pony up for the rental in El Paso.

Because I will be GODDAMNED if I ever ride public transpo again outside of NYC -- and even then, let's face it, I'm taking a cab.

Dude, I don't need your pity. Please don't depress me while my wife and baby are sleeping and all is right with the world. Cars aren't awesome. They're sometimes necessary, but you can't seem to get your head around "sometimes" I think - I may be totally wrong. In alabama there's no 2 ways about it. In Boston, you're almost dumb to have one. And the part you may not be able to imagine is what happens when you don't have one for a while. Please take my word for it?

But seriously, holy fuck do I not miss having one. At all. And hey guess what - if I do start missing it, I'll fucking buy one. Meanwhile we're in really good shape from all the walking and biking (have you seen my fucking wife lately? jesus h), we don't have all the hassles, and I'm 99% sure you know all this but can't resist breaking balls, because that's what you do. Which is why I love you.

No, see I get this - but the whole "I'm not going to go to Anaheim because I don't want a rental" is truly beyond my comprehension.

It's like if someone told you that to get around Saigon you'd need to take a rickshaw, but you didn't want to offend the guy who pedals - it's just part of the culture. When in Rome and all. To each their own, though. Go to Cleveland and light the lake on fire?

The idea of having to leave where we are every night to not be annoyed by where we are is not so enticing. Less so if it meant a quick bus or subway ride. Moreso if it means a rental car, child seat, traffic, maps, etc.

Meh. I'm spoiled here in some ways.

It's like one of the annual meccas for people who deal with what I deal with.

And it's in fucking Cleveland.

FYI - we rented a Tahoe in El Paso. It has made movement much, much easier. I drank coffee and made phone calls while my bro drove to our aunt's house.

Damn, those are so big that you could probably fit a birthing tub in the back if you needed it.

Nah, I'm helping the environment by driving the smaller version of Tahoe than the one THAT I OWN.
