So barkerette spilled a glass of wine into my laptops keyboard about an hour ago. I turned it upside down instantly and turned it off.

Has anyone done this before? Am I screwed? When should I attempt to boot it up again?

depends. A regular PC keyboard would likely be wrecked, but most laptop keyboards are made spill resistant.

If it is broken, and the laptop isn''t under warranty, the keyboard can usually be replaced fairly easily.

Just don't turn it on until that shit is dry. I would try taking it apart and wiping it off with water (not alcohol). Take the battery out if you do that so there is no power source when you are touching water to it. then let it dry.

I did that some weeks ago in the library. it was actually fun because my reaction was kind of slow, with turning it upside down but the girl next to me whispered "scheiße!", jump off of her chair and ran away. two minutes later she returned with maybe 5 meters of toilet paper while she apologized for the long time to "wait" for me.

the only problem now is that some keys are a bit sticky still.

that was an "exception". it's funny though that you can buy beer in the library. (but it's not allowed to drink it in the 'work area')

keys are a little "soft" feeling though. not exactly sticky, more like gummy.

same here. that really sucks. I tried to clean every single key but it wasn't really successful.
