Bloor, what's your thoughts on the new one? I just put it on for the very first time. Killer opening track, yikes.

I think it may be overall better than the debut but I need to give it some more listens--I shelved it after the initial like 5 spins.

I just flipped to Side 2. I find it much more immediate than Horehound. Jack White seems like he's way more up front here.

I like this a lot better than the debut as well. Really fun listen.

it's enjoyable...but like the first, it's way more swagger/attitude than actual songwriting.

It gets by, and is better than a lot of the ball-less crap floating around in that 'cloud' these days, but I just wish they married that swagger to some top-quality songwriting, as opposed to marrying it with the "best they could be bothered coming up with".

Kinda wish Jack White would just slide to the background a little more and let Alison Mosshart take the reigns on this project, because 1: singing drummers are fucking lame, and 2: she's a better singer. Love the female/male vocal interchanges, but at the same time I don't want to hear the White Stripes "fleshed out" as a full band.

And I don't mean for this to come off as overtly negative, 'cause I like this band, but...they could be so much better.
