Jeez I originally posted this nearly 3 years ago?

Anybody have any experience with Trek 2000 series bikes? Talking with a guy looking to sell his, a 2200 model from 2000, for $400...thing has been well taken care of and is clean but it has been used. Also has some upgrades and some extras. Whatcha all think? Decent deal or could I do better?

So after some research and a bunch of test riding, I ended up getting a Giant Defy 1 at the beginning of April.

Mine has better pedals than that one does but otherwise its the same. It was a late model year, so I saved a couple hundred bucks in the process right there. Otherwise its smooth, stable, and at least decently fast. It came down to this or a cannondale synapse 6, but the Giant was just smoother and more comfortable in the end. 300+ miles into ownership, one of the best investments I've made of late.
