Thao Nguyen? I don't even know if that was this year.

Titus Andronicus.

sets:

beach house, april 3
hum, may 31
free energy, july 17
baroness, august 1
raphael saadiq, august 6
the strokes, august 6
the national, august 7
barreracudas, october 23
robyn, november 13
japandroids, december 31

songs:

"all my friends", july 17. lcd soundsystem sounded great and this song usually kills live anyway, but it became euphoric being one of about 20,000 people dancing in an outdoor park singing along. tremendous performance fueled by a lively audience.

"100-yard dash", august 6. raphael saadiq is one of the best frontmen i've ever seen. he connected with the audience immediately and the band was so tight. the whole show was a lot of fun, but that song was when the gloves came off and it was basically like, "i'm going to own you."

"i knew the bride", october 10. i've seen nick lowe play this solo, but this was the first time i'd seen him play it with a full band and he really took advantage. it sounded great and got everybody really into an otherwise inconsistent show.

"sleep the clock around", october 11. far from my favorite belle & sebastian song, but it sounded amazing and was late enough in the show that the band had finally found their groove.

"dancing on my own", november 13. this caused absolute pandemonium. there were times i could barely hear robyn singing over 1,000+ people screaming every lyric. between her dance moves, the sea of bodies totally in rhythm and the fact that this is an incredible pop song, it floored me how well this was done.
