Of course it's just as stupid as schools banning To Kill a Mockingbird because it contains the N-word. Actually, it's a little worse to take the liberty of actually changing the words and altering a classic.

While I found the article poorly written, I do agree with the author on his main points.

Hopefully this is an isolated publication and future editions of the book will retain the original terminology.

I think it should be noted that this is being published by Alabama publisher New South.

Which is surprising, because it is a tiny publisher right up the street from me, that usually does boutique/southern interest type books.

Of course, if this is a big printing, and they stand to make money off the controversy, maybe it'll help keep the doors open.
