Thread where we post our favorite tracks of the year via YouTube or download link. Will be fun to check back into this thread towards the end of the year.

I'll start with this track from the new Ducktails album. Fucking love this. Simple, brings a smile to my face, relaxing vibe, and sounds ridiculous high.

Thanks Dalen, I was hoping someone would make this thread.

Though it was released late last year I just heard this song last week. I wanted to share because I thought maybe not that many people got a chance to hear it and the song is very nearly as beautiful as the duet between Thom Yorke and PJ Harvey, "This Mess We're In" released over a decade (!) ago.

Outside of loyal UK trip-hop fans, not many are paying any attention to the band Morcheeba any more which is a shame because they continue to put out quality music on their latest album Blood Like Lemonade

this song is perfect when you want that hazy, relaxed, chill-like vibe

Remember that band, The Russian Futurists? I very nearly forgotten about them until someone sent me a track that made me sit up and take notice. This from their latest, The Weight's On The Wheels

very nice harmony and pop sensibility that is pleasing to the ear. RIYL: older Rogue Wave

Disappointed by that last Interpol album? Yeah, me too. It's like they've forgotten how to write good songs. That's okay because the new album from White Lies borrows heavily from their earlier work that was so powerful and moody. This song manages that and is anthemic to boot.

I wasn't even aware that ex-Jellyfish, and Grays member Jason Falkner put out a new solo album until radcliffe posted about it in his year's best list so I hunted for it and was glad I did because boy, it's great. Everyone has to hear this if they're into the power-pop genre. Falkner is getting better and better with age.

This one is also late 2010 but I feel it deserves a mention. The Posies put out a new album Blood/Candy out on Rykodisc a few months ago and while it is very uneven as a whole it has some high points that is every bit as good as their classic, Frosting On The Beater. I saw them on tour for their last show here in Honolulu and yes, they still can bring it. Recommended.

Here's one from Lemuria, who put out my #1 album of 2008. Their new one just came out this month. This is the only Youtube I could find though there are many highlights. J. Robbins produced it. RIYL: girl/boy indie rock.

Here's one from Akron Family, who put out my # 1 of 2007. At the time it blew me away with creativity and joy and freshness and an all-around happy/weird vibe. This one is bringing near those heights.

RIYL: Albums that are called S/T II: The Cosmic Birth and Journey of Shinju TNT, maybe some Animal Collection and Polyphonic Spree, as well.

Hmmmm, someone in Akron/Family liked that Sleigh Bells record.
