Now you know why people wanted to Unleash The Rahm on the HCR fight - this dude just went from loser to winner in half a day, and didn't waste almost a full year debating it, getting defined by his opponents, and being accused of implementing death panels/sharia law.

He didn't really win yet. Not that it speaks to your overall point regarding his effectiveness in the political machine.

He won the day he decided to get in....everything else is a distraction.

The decision today only means that he can have his name on the ballot if the ballot are printed before the Supreme Court hears the case. It's not a definitive decision on whether he can run. It's not surprising given the circumstances. It has little to do with him as a political machine. His lawyers deserve some credit though. But it's a pretty standard plea.

If he is able to run, I agree he was going to win the election from the day he entered the race.

Why don't you and Haq get together and file me an Amicus brief, T?

I'm telling you that he will get on the ballot, and that he will win, and all of this is just a distraction.

(And if they do kick him off, he could go write in and REALLY fuck everything up -- the one thing the voters hate more than taxes, other ethnicities, and the government meddling with their Medicare, is courts telling them who they can and can't vote for.)

Yeah, I mostly agree with you. I'd be shocked if he's not on the ballot. But 3 years of misery has instructed me that's it's not over until it's over.

After looking at it, I'm sort of shocked that the appellate court reversed the trial court.

If I had to guess, I would surmise it was a plot to allow them and Rahm to all have the ability to raise MORE money off the issue. But that's 8 years of misery (and counting) for me.

I never heard of the guy, but my first impression is that anyone whose name sounds like a bright blue mixed drink with an umbrella in it might be going in with a handicap.

Annnnnnd, he's back on the ballot. Tempest in a teapot or further fodder for those decrying Chicago politics as usual (and by extension, the President)? You decide.

Even though this whole thing runs roughshod over the law, Chicago will benefit. Rahm's the only one looking to use this as a springboard to bigger and better things. That means he'll have to accomplish something. The others are only looking to line their pockets and the pockets of their friends.

i ran into the real rahm on my way home last night and while cameras were on him and reporters everywhere and he's shaking hands with everyone, i yelled out, "you've got a great fake twitter account." his reaction was a pretty hearty fake laugh.
