Regardless, just makes it an easier call to cut these guys loose and focus elsewhere. Richt can't win in this situation anyway. If he still recruits them he loses any credibility in running a good, clean program and would be accused of having a "win at all costs" mentality. He'll wish them good luck and move on allowing some other school to play the "everyone deserves a 2nd chance card" (cough*Auburn*cough) and he'll line up against UGA.

They'll end up at Troy or Auburn.

Sadly, I read some of his twitter posts and if I only knew him from that, I'd say he can barely read.

Best part of this is they used Les Miles pic instead of Tressel...

But, looks like the Ohio State mess is about to get even messier.

EDIT: Looks like they've fixed the pic issue...

First, Washaun, now Caleb King, you UGA fans have to be praying that Crowell is the next Herschell Walker right now.

Meh. This broke Friday down here and the reaction has been mixed.

On one hand he's got experience and would be a serviceable backup for Crowell, if he's as good as advertised, but King hasn't even remotely lived up to his hype coming out of high school. He's shown lack of discipline, been arrested for stupid shit, and had 6 months to get his grades up to snuff (he missed the bowl game because of his grades). Some say good riddance.

On the other, if Crowell is only 70% as good as people think he is, we have a couple of complimentary guys in the backfield. One a scatback that's good in the open and the other a 200 pound bruiser who knows the system.

That may be overly optimistic but really, this is Aaron Murray's offense this year.

I'm way more concerned with our Defense.

It certainly helps temper my own (eternal and often misguided) optimism for the upcoming season.

It also, contrary to the takes in our ongoing massive cc email chain with Stu and Assoc. most likely sets up Richt with a ready built excuse and another year to right the ship should we publicly blow a donkey ala last year.

Been hearing a lot of chatter on the radio and on blogs that Yahoo Sports has a story that they're holding on to until closer to the season to drop. Apparently, it has to do with an "SEC West contender". Could just be rumor but the guy on sportstalk here is pretty plugged in and he says it's coming. I just hope it involves Cam.

In today's climate, this just made me catch my breath for a second. Please let it involve Cam.

Did y'all see the thing where Chizik asked the lady from the NCAA to announce the investigation was over and she bitchslapped him down with a "We will tell you when it's over," answer that was very curt, and most speculation has the investigation still wide open.

There's a massive Aub AND a massive Bammer in my office......

Apparently the reason she was so pointed with him is because he had interrupted the proceedings several times and asked multiple questions, many of them regarding the investigation. It's that kind of behavior that really makes me want it all to come crashing down on Auburn's collective heads. It's been the utter and complete defiance and arrogance of not just their innocence but that there should even be an investigation at all. Like there should be no correlation between Cecil Newton and the Miss St. incident (which is FACT BTW). Other things like Mark Schlabach literally needing security escort him off campus while reporting the whole thing. The playing of Cam despite reports of wrong doing and this most recent incident at the coaches meetings.

I'm sure there is also some bitterness and jealousy that drive some of these feelings but it's mostly just Auburn Nation's notion that it's all just a witch hunt to screw them. Although, if I were an Auburn fan I'd probably feel the same way. Most overlooked college football fun fact: Auburn has gone undefeated more times than any other team in the last 20 years (3 times) and only has 1 title to show for it, and 1 appearance in the title game.

(Nebraska may have gone undefeated 3 times, can't remember. Also, has Boise?)

Yeah, Derris, I was mentally preparing my response to your post as I read it, and it all comes down to: "Never underestimate the size of the chip on Auburn's collective shoulder."

They've been on probation like 36 of the past 60 years or something insane like that, and their reply is always "we're just doing what everyone else does anyway."

They'll never be Alabama - so they're a perennial number 2 in their home state's consciousness and fan base, plus they compete with UGA to their East, and they're this tiny town of nobodies, who have to live in fucking TRAILERS fer chrissakes.

Their number one booster not only has been the subject of massive NCAA investigations, a takedown by ESPN.com, and almost got THE ENTIRE SCHOOL de-accredited by SACS - and then his empire fell apart in the financial crisis, and he was forced to sell his bank by the feds.

At one point, for enrollment, they were allowing Georgia students within 100 miles radius of the University to enroll with in-state tuition - if that tells you anything about who ends up there. Plus, it's an "engineering" school that I've met exactly ONE engineer who went there.

It all adds up to this bizarre inferiority complex.
