Match 3

Noah Wk : Riverdales - Cementhead : Non-descript Ramonescore. These can and have done better than this. Not this time around though. 3/10

rogneeb : Ron Sexsmith - Believe It When I See It : Ah, one of those Canadian singer-songwriter types. Good voice, not a bad chorus as well. I normally prefer the simpler approach, but he seems to do well with this fuller sound. Would like to hear something a tad more concise from this guy. 6/10

Wins: 1-2
Points: 16-16

Match 4

big bobby : Sonic Avenues - Out of My Head :
Sheesh, I gotta get some fresh blood in this thread next time around. This band wants very badly to sound like the Exploding Hearts. Nothing wrong with it, though the recording/production is a tiiiiiny bit faux junky. Some bands do it a little bit or just enough, these guys leaned in the trash can a bit too far. 5/10

e-stone - The Out Crowd - Big Brother :
Matt Hollywood is in this band, apparently. Some chick is singing though. Cute voice, nice acoustic guitar. I have a feeling this is one of those tracks I'd hear that make me want to check out the band, only to find the rest of their stuff doesn't sound like this. 6/10

Wins: 2-2
Points: 22-21

Match 5

read hard: GG Allin - I Need Adventure : Good stuff. Not a huge fan of the sound of the guitar, but I believe this is an early recording. Otherwise a pretty good tune from a disgusting human being. 7/10

radcliffe: Locksley - Darling It's True: More good stuff! I love the chorus on this. Neat "oldiescore" as I call it. It seems to nod very specifically to a certain song (or songs) but I can never put my finger on it. 7/10

Let's see if the quality continues

radcliffe: Electric Six - The Rubberband Man :
Rollicking rock'n'roll. Here I DO like the horns and piano and everything going wild. Not sure about the lead singer. He seems like the voice used to make fun of those singers who do the "yyyyeeeeoooooww!" thing. Still, this is pretty fun. 7/10

read hard: Fountains of Wayne - Sink To The Bottom : Whoa! Modern power pop gem with nostalgia factor and everything! Yeah, this song is aces. 9/10

Wins: 2-3
Points: 29-30

Match 6

ihatesocks : Atom & His Package - Shopping Spree : Not one of his best songs, and it always annoyed me when I saw him live, that EVERY TIME he would tell the lengthy story behind this song. 4/10

ft : The Hold Steady - Certain Songs : One of those bands I don't actively follow, but if they come on the radio (or lastfm!) or whatever I'm cool with it. Again, this isn't one of their best, but it's certainly good enough. 5/10

Wins: 3-3
Points: 34-34

Well, bort, you just made your upcoming task that much less enjoyable. Condolences.

match 7

milo : The Creeps - Follow You Home : Not terrible punk rock, with a bit of pop in there. I was hoping the chorus would kill it, but it's just another one of those whaaaa-oooohhh type things. Not that there's anything wrong with that. Probably have few gems up their sleeve but this isn't one of them. 5/10

thisotherkingdom : Black Lips - Lock And Key :
Weird tribal drum part, now the Stray Cat part, and now the garage rock with a little blues feel to it. I've heard better from these guys. 5/10

C'mon people, don't make me listen to more sub-par crap!

thisotherkingdom - Built To Spill - The Plan : THANK YOU. Best song. 10/10

milo - Parts And Labor - Hurricane :
I actually really like this song. I should probably listen to these guys more. Good quirky/noisy sounds and dynamics, but ultimately a melodic and moving tune. 8/10

Wins: 4-3
Points 39-38

I've been trying to figure out what the purpose of this thread was; now I know it's just about peddling golf clubs.
