Which stations do you all feel are the most listened to/best in the country at the moment? Fill me in.

I want to do a targeted mailing for this new Glass Vaults EP and get some college radio play.

Thanks for any help!

Look a few threads down--CHIRP sounds cool.

D, the trick is to find DJs that specialize in the format. Agree with Dave. If you send it to a MD, there's only a chance that it will either find rotation, or find itself into the hands of a specialty DJ. Search out the people who actually are into the genre and have shows. Much more likely to find a space in their playlist.

F.R. pretty much hit it on the head...seek out the specialty shows, try to contact the DJ, see if they don't mind getting a digital file (.aiff)

yeah dudes, i'll be targeting specific dj's that play similar styles, not just mailing to stations.

oh, Dj Shannon from KEXP will be premiering the new Glass Vaults tonight between 9PM-1AM.

Dave, tell me about WRAS. Do you know anyone there that could hook this up?

In MPLS, there are a few, but this is the only one I've listened to repeatedly; and by my limited music director experience, seems to be the standard by which college radio stations are judged in MN.

http://www.radiok.org/

a genuine quote from their site:

"Radio K is easily the best station in the Twin Cities...and, as far as I'm concerned, Radio K is one of the best stations in the nation."

See they played it a little after midnight. Will have to check out the KEXP stream.

I'm so far removed from that loop dale, they're just top 5 in the country, I'd check the schedule online.

I was a music director (and specialty dj) at WXXE. when something came across my pile that was someone else's specialty, I just tossed it in their mailbox and forgot about it.
