19/30 in the South

Quote:
To find the most struggling cities in the country, we used three data points weighted equally: the most recently available unemployment rate (August 2011), median household income, and average debt. Data is from a recent report by Experian and the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The average credit score for each city is included in the gallery, though not taken into account to determine the final ranking. If this data is any indication, the cities struggling the most right now—the ones that may take the longest to recover—are clustered in the South and along the Pacific Coast.

it's flawed, but still interesting.

Cannot believe Harrisburg, PA isn't on the list.

Literally looking at bankruptcy. Capital of PA.

Love how they show a photo of South Beach for Miami. Pretty retarded seeing that the Median household income for many of the people that live/visit there is probably well above $100,000.

Harrisburg is definitely mentioned in the comments section. Like I said, flawed... They were talking about the residents living in the area. Even the average credit scores seemed high for such "broke" towns.

What does average debt mean? Is that only credit card and student loan debts that don't ?

Do cars and houses count? If so, that's probably no indication of a person's economic standing.

Yeah, I saw yr "flawed" comment afterwards. Harrisburg is under the microscope at the moment because what they do could become the M.O. of other struggling towns and cities.

Somehow Buffalo did not make the list. Having the NYS social safety net probably helps.

Cars and houses are secured loans: if you don't pay, you lose 'em. Debt is technically insecure loans:

Agreed about Harrisburg, but at least Toledo is on the list.
