She won that race when she dropped that "No one got rich on their own. You used public roads to get to your factory...." quote.

Seriously. And poor Khazei has given out hundreds of thousands to Dem causes over the years and has no allies.

Thomas Friedman was paraphrasing her this morning on NPR/"On Point". The Democrats REALLY need to use the "you didn't get your millions on your own" logic in their campaign. Public/Private partnership does work sometimes, it's not completely broken or beyond repair (eh-hem...Military-Industrial Complex). I think it would put some much-needed pride back into the working class, if even for a moment.

Speaking of Walker what's the latest on him? I remember him getting elected with shit-tons of righty support, and then right away he did something that pissed them all off, right? So is he no longer a right wing darling or what?

It served him well in a Special Election against a candidate who was too dumb to actually campaign. But then he woke up the next day facing reelection in Massa-damn-chutes and wisely decided he might wanna tack back to the left a bit.

Warren is certainly a darling of the media and the left but she has some "unconventional" positions out there. I think she's just the kind of weirdo that should be in the Senate.

So does Ohio's vote to maintain public employee unions along with other Dem victories this week mean anything for 2012? I'm skeptical. What say ye?

It means something for Wisconsin people camped out by the capitol building all this time, if nothing else.

I'd say it's a comment on Ohioans being sick of big Government AND big Corporations shitting on working class people.

All in all, I'd say you could spin positivity for the Dems yesterday with the ridiculous "Personhood" vote in Mississippi being defeated and the Maine voter registration deal.

Still, the big fight is coming and most of this will be forgotten by Thanksgiving. (Except Sunday Alcohol Sales in Atlanta!!!)

More to my point that yesterday doesn't mean all that much; even after all the crap that has come out about Herman Cain, he's still the current favorite in Georgia. (according to straw polls). Georgia can out-Repub and out-dumb with the best of 'em.

Sort of, and only time will tell. It will be spun as "Republican over-reach caused this" and in some ways it probably did. And in some ways it probably didn't - like Mississippi's "personhood" amendment defeat - which was caused by a terribly written law that would have had bizarre and untold consequences for Women, Children, and even Men.

I think it probably jazzes up your lefty class a bit, which has been sort of overwhelmed and deluged with bad news of late. And in the case of Ohio, I think the SB5 was a trial run for The Barry Re-Elect (CREEB?) that bodes well. A Repub can't win the WH without Ohio, and No on 5 got 300K more votes than Kasich did in an off-off year.

You rang? Although the American attention-span is short and getting shorter (the flattening of the digital world), and any popular awareness of last night won't last to Thanksgiving, it was significant. It wasn't just Ohio:

Workers’ Rights (Ohio);
Choice (Mississippi);
Voting Rights (Maine);
Marriage Equality (Iowa);
Immigrant Civil Rights AND Government By the People (Arizona);
Public Education (North Carolina);

... and the precentages were pretty impressive (Ohio 62% even though the Oligarchy spent almost 100 milliion)... the senior state senator in racist, facist Arizona was recalled because he was racist and facist? Last night may not have been a momentum builder in conventional ways, but together with the surprising shelf life of the Occupyists, help the left's narrative. And as I keep saying 2012 is all about turnout... the Independent middle isn't as important as 5-7% change in either "base." Although speaking of left, I heard a great speech last night by Jeffrey Sachs who pointed out American doesn't have a right and left, it has two parties, far right and center right.

I think if nothing else it points out that while people may vote for republicans if you separate the individual issues they still side with democrats far more often.

Barry is going to have a tough time winning Ohio. I wouldn't call yesterday's results a win for Democrats. The repeal of the healthcare bill is much more telling of the Republican strength here and things to come than the SB5 results which weren't spun as a "party" initiative, but unions. The SB5 campaign was all focused on reduced services and safety from the cuts to nurses, teachers, firemen, and police cuts aka: impacting all Americans.

Which is the democratic platform in 2012. Candidate Romney will demonize "government" and call for social security reform. The results of the election will be how Obama responds.... I think he'll do just fine

If the Health Care bill gets struck down by the SCOTUS, Obama may have to figure out a way to campaign against something he championed (although, let's face it, he championed a POS in order to get something passed and get the ball rolling).

I'll always have something of a love/hate relationship with unions but I'll give tons of credit for the efforts in Ohio: Job well done.

considering the history of commerce clause cases, i simply don't see how any justice not named Thomas and possibly Scalia could declare the health care law to be unconstitutional.

Yeah, I haven't heard anyone knowledgeable talk about this and think it's gonna get struck down. This is just gonna give the Republicans ammo to rail against activist judges.

They campaigned on a winning message, no more no less. And it was certainly spun as an overreach by a class of people against a much larger class of people. And it won - with more votes than Kasich got. 300,000 more votes.

Harry - I am as happy as you are that MS26 got the kibosh, but it wasn't a silent majority of pro choice mississippians - it was a badly written bill whose consequences were effectively pointed out.

So, GOP has debates on the night of the Alabama/LSU game and the night of the CMA's. Might wanna research your demographic.

the GOP always talks shit about obamacare, but very rarely ever says anything specific about it. I realize why they do that, but it's annoying as hell.
