I've been enjoying it. Still haven't listened to it a lot so I'm still trying to get a better feel for it. Pretty interesting record, for sure. Playing it right now, actually, and I think this is probably my fourth time through it.

Lee "Scratch" Perry and Friends
Sipple Out Deh: The Black Ark Years; The Jamaican 7"s

Well, no point in rehashing tales of the greatness of "Scratch" as you have all heard that before I am sure. The important thing here is that this collection gathers up the best of his singles during his most creative period. Now, this one isn't much for the heavier dub side of the man, those tracks are gathered up on a host of other collections. But if you want a slew of his greatest tracks with a variety of vocalists, this is the place to come. Police & Thieves, War Ina Babylon, Curly Locks, Roast Fish & Cornbread, Hurt so Good and many more. A truly outstanding collection.

This sounds like a great collection. Thanks.

Good album. Song for song I think there really is a good bit of mediocre stuff in there, but when it hits on all cylinders it can be amazing. The World (Is Going Up In Flames) is an incredible track.

I dunno. Maybe it was just hitting me at that moment, but man, I was really digging it. He's also been added to my bucket list to see live.

Ah, Kings Go Forth. Milwaukee's fetishization of the past reaches a new height (or depth, depending on one's perspective).

&, no, I will not succumb to the obligation to enjoy this latest project from Andy Noble, of Get-Down DJs fame.

(Does anyone remember when no hipster/trustifarian/Cool Kid would have been caught dead in Mad Planet? Oh, the ironing!)

Oh, I didn't mean to knock it too much. Just one of those where the lead track was phenomenal and after that a letdown of sorts for me. Decent enough, but not knock out stuff like the first song for me.

He was pretty good when I saw him live opening for Sharon Jones. He only dig a handful of tunes then though. I'd be curious to hear him do a longer set.

Hüsker Dü: Zen Arcade

While I often prefer New Day Rising for it's catchier sensibilities and more concise songwriting, this monster of an album is the granddaddy of Hüsker Dü albums for a reason. This one holds everything and the kitchen sink. Noise experiments, power pop, sonic collages, punk, acoustic, you name it. If Hüsker Dü ever touched it, they touched it here. A true punk epic. Best listened to at ear bleeding volume for maximum distortion.
