Succumbs to cancer.

Long live the Hitch.

I wished he lived long enough to write one more.................about religion and Tim Tebow.

The first time I realized who this guy was he was on some HBO show, but I don't think it was Maher, because I know I was still in college - and that's when Maher was doing his ABC Roundtable of Failure.

Anyway, he destroyed, in succession, Gandhi, Mother Theresa and Prez. Clinton. It was a seminal moment in my realization that you could be a fucking asshole and still get ahead, as long as you were smart and had personality.

Rest in Piss....because he didn't believe in Resting in Peace.

It was on the old Dennis Miller show.

A true original and an incredible talent. I'll miss reading him.

Dern. Miller is a dude who's decline as a comedian, person and human being has been so precipitous that if you had offered me $100 dollars and 245 guesses I would not have been able to conjure his name.

I used to RACE home from the restaurant on Friday nights after work to watch his show. It and he were in the fucking stratosphere for a minute there.

Now, sometimes I'll stumble on his radio show and I can barely stand the sound of his voice.

EDIT: And Hitchens is the one who fucking gets cancer and dies. NO justice in the world.

Remember when he was on Monday Night Football? What a disaster.

Hitch was a long-time friend of Hardball w/ Matthews, though after FOX News picked him up to cheerlead the need to take out Saddam not that often, so much of my high school exposure to contrarianism was Hitch. Great interview, if a bit melodramatic. (The Clinton derangement.)

(In fact, how Hitch & Andy Sullivan never got a Crossfire type show to hate on Bill, from left & right, respectively, is a mystery.)

Was that a soccer programme? Didn't know Hitch liked to call the footie.

Oh you mean Dennis Miller? He was better than Kornheiser or Jon Gruden but that's not really saying much.

I'm sitting here with a bottle of Johnnie Walker Black and watching videos of Hitch. I'd love to see that clip of him on Miller's HBO show if anyone can find it. I think that's where I came to know about him as well. A brilliant mind taken too soon.

Here's what an old friend from high school put on facebook today:

"The Iraq War is officially over and I want to thank all who served over there. On an unrelated note, Christopher Hitchens found out yesterday that God is real. I hope he humbled himself in the last few hours of his life, repented, and turned to the God he denied for so long."

D-Bag comment but not unexpected from a born-again christian.

Seriously, for all your friend knows Hitchens found out that he was right all along.
