Christians just really wanna feel persecuted so they can fantasize about how christ-like they are.

Also for the record, that role can be played correctly, as in the case of Flying Rabbit. Matt knows how to both Have Conviction, and yet Not Be Pushy / Play Persecuted, at least not that I've seen. There are few people here I wanna hang out with in real life more. Matt's faith makes him such a balanced, centered, admirable guy, but he has never ever judged me / mine for our heathenistic ways. I don't feel like he would make christianity a pre-requisite for serious friendship.

Again, just my stupid opinion.

You truly have no idea how much easier it is to be a christian in this country than to not be one. I dont want to be harsh or an asshole, but seriously, that is complete and utter bullshit, with all respect. Try to empathize... if you lived in a country where 60%+ people claimed to believe in a magical house cat who's been slated to come back "any day now" and whisk (whisker?) away all his true believers, and people started making policy on it, trying to force your kids to pray to the cat, and nobody could get elected without swearing they believed in the cat / proving how many times they've been to kitty church / going to the right FLAVOR of kitty church because some are not as in-the-pocket as others, etc... It sounds silly because it's a cat but I'm not sure a magical jewish zombie sounds much less silly to me. All of this works perfectly as long as I don't have to have Magic Cat enforced on me. I'm not sure how I'm enforcing "do whatever the fuck you want" on you, nor how it's harming you in some way.

You have all the churches you could ever ask for. You have Magic Cat on the currency. Your right to do pretty much whatever your flavor of religion dictates is protected in the goddamned constitution. You have every liberty and then some that people in other places who are ACTUALLY oppressed for their beliefs would (and do) die for. But because not everyone believes in / makes policy according to Magic Cat, the country is in trouble and you are in some way oppressed.

I don't see it.

Nah, Cap. You took that way over what I intended. I already said that I'm not a victim, nor am I oppressed. I think "hatin' on" is completly relative to the history of Christianity in America.

I don't think so.
Your board persona is a little more confrontational, in general, but I have not ever been offended by you professing your faith, nor felt like you were pushing it on me or anyone else here.
And yeah, I totally want to hang out with you if and when we can.

A tiny bit but you aren't who I meant. I meant the strawman who is (in my narrative) claiming that Christians are in some way persecuted in America. You're a pretty good guy by all accounts, sorry for the confusion.

I do find it odd that once a year or so you like to start these threads to see who will come out and rail against christianity though. Like bull baiting or something.

Thanks, Kyle. Really means a lot. I would never, ever not be around or look down on someone because of their beliefs. My faith is important to me, but so is making a connection with people. I think people can see more if they see someone living a certain lifestyle and living in a balanced and loving way. I fail a lot though, at being a good person. But that's one of the redeeming things about my faith--its forgiving. So, how can I look at someone and pass judgment? There will always be idiots representing every cross-section of people. Its just how it is. Hopefully people don't look at me and see Westboro Baptist. And trust me, when people like Pat Robertson comes on tv and says something ignorant it hurts my heart just as much as it hurts yours.

As for feeling persecuted? I personally don't. I think those screaming bloddy murder need to open up Voices of Martyrs and read about whats going on around the world. Places that you will be killed for your faith.

No, in this case I was trying to provide an arena for an interesting discussion between FR and Harry that had started in the NFL thread. I have a pretty good idea of where most of you stand on the topic already, so there's no need for baiting.

I was gonna say, if that was fake--someone is missing out on making some money.

The name reminds me of this beer:

I kind of assumed that schmaltz would be delicious, because I've never had animal fat that wasn't, but it was kinda gross and flavorless.

You know, with game technology and app development what it is, I am surprised someone hasn't pushed out a bootleg version of Tecmo Super Bowl (the one with 8 plays, aka The Best Video Game Ever Imagined) with updated players. I'd buy one of those handheld thingies and this game if they made it.

Or in the very least why the fuck is there not a Tecmo Super Bowl app you can download to your phone?

I'd rather watch Tebow than Andy Reid scratching his way back to not being fired again.
